How does SCHA fit into the home schooling system?

SCHA provides home school families with support in the form of social and scholastic activities and materials.

  • Many social and educational organizations allow the Homeschool Assn to pay a single admission or enrollment fee for the entire membership, thus significantly reducing the costs of gaining a quality education for any one member.  Similar advantages are available with sharing the cost of materials, such as CDs, DVDs, books, etc.
  • Contests, performances, fairs, bees, and the like are available for the homeschool youth.

The bylaws follow:

·        Membership is currently free.  Join through our website www.SCHA.5u.com or by calling 505-744-4005.  The next meeting time and date is made available then.  We are working on attendance by video or phone conferencing.  Our Bylaws and Code of Ethics:

·        Members decide on the events, dates, materials and locations.

·        A facilitator will be chosen at the start of each meeting and decisions will be made by consensus.

·        Children are welcome (that’s what it’s all about).  Activities and refreshments will be provided.  Meetings will be held at the Skate Zone until further notice.

·        Ad hoc committees will form according to needs as recognized by members during a regularly scheduled meeting.

·        Profanity and chemically altered state of consciousness will not be tolerated.

·        Judgmental statements about types of homeschooling will not be tolerated, unless it is during one of the duly chosen activities by the membership, such as a debate about the pros and cons of each style.

·        Advice is free.  Any advice given during a meeting, lecture, or article is worth what you paid for it, usually given by non-professionals, so consider the source.
